Ladurée

Ever since the Ladurée cafe opened in Covent Garden I've been curious to pay a visit and try their famous macaroons. I decided to take a friend as a treat for her birthday and we were not disappointed - delicious food served on beautiful crockery, attentive service and a great view over Covent Garden's plaza.

I started with the Salad Champs-Elysee. I've never had a salad like this before, the crab meat and filo pastry was served floating on a cold mango soup with pieces of melon and mango. Really unusual but very tasty.

My friend had a king prawn and linguine salad served in a filo pastry basket (hidden under the spinach).

We then had pots of Ladurée's special blend tea.

My friend had the Mille-Feuille with caramel.

I had the Ispahan macaroon - rosewater flavoured with raspberries and lychees.

Food porn moment.

I'd definitely recommend a visit to Laduree. The menu offers so much more than the macaroons that they're known for. The prices are a little on the expensive side but given the location and the quality of the food it's definitely worth it for a special treat.

What's your favourite sweet treat?

  5. I love Laduree and the one in Covent Garden is lovely. I love the macarons there. In fact, I love them so much that I usually skip out on the lunch itself, and go straight to dessert.

  7. I almost went there on Saturday night, but in the end we've chosen Mexican restaurant Lupita just between Embankment and Charing Cross. ;) The food was good but we've ordered too many nachos. ;) X
