Mini-Break: Prague

I thought I'd share some of the photos from my trip to Prague. Before I went the first thing that came to my mind when people mentioned Prague was stag-dos and cheap pints. While there was a definitely stag-do presence (mostly on our EasyJet flight) the city has so much more to offer and every day I was surprised at just how beautiful the city was. Prague isn't in the Eurozone so it's far cheaper than the other European cities I've visited recently - my friend and I saw Carmen at the National Opera for around £12. The only slight downside (for myself and my vegetarian friend) was the food. Traditional Czech food seems to be meat, potatoes and not much in the way of fresh fruit and veg. Being a bit of a fussy eater/health freak we ended up having most of our meals in Starbucks but definitely got a taste of Czech culture from all the museums, galleries and historical sights instead.

  1. I've been to Prague twice with my family and I absolutely adore it; especially the main square. European culture is one of my favourite things to walk round and discover, especially in Prague and Austria! x

  3. Looks like you had a lovely time! I went there about 5 years ago when I was in sixth form. I remember a week later Kanye West released diamonds are forever and the video was shot on the famous bridge in Prague! Also went to central europes biggest nightclub which was a dive but good enough for a bunch of 17 year olds as we were back then!! great post xxx

  11. HI! It´s so nice to see pics of my homeland´s capital on the blogosphere, especially now when every other blogger´s on holiday, posting about Turkey or Italy:) Glad you liked Prague - looks like the weather´s worked out for yous as well. It really is a beautiful city. Shame that I don´t get to go there often enough, even though it´s only an hour drive from where I live at the moment. Anyway, come back to CZE again:) There´s lots to see x

  20. @ heartshapedbruise - they were pretty scary! Definitely good for a photo opportunity though.

@ Becky - it was cheaper than some of the other European mini-breaks I've been on, we stayed in a 4* hotel which was really nice, seems like there are options for every price range and it's not in the Eurozone so food was definitely cheaper.

@ Daniela - think we were very lucky with the weather! Really glad that we picked Prague for our break, there was so much to see.

@ Laura - I think it'd be so beautiful at Christmas time!

@ Olivia - quite a few in the last couple of years! Trying to make the most of being able to go on holidays before I start work and only have 25 days a year off :(

@ thequirkykitchen - that must've been amazing. I went to the National Opera and the theatre was so beautiful.

Thanks for all your comments xxx

  22. Oh wow, I've been wanting to go to Prague for a while now and you've just totally made me want to go right now - looks beautiful! I think the only thing that would put me off is the food, being vegan, I can imagine it would be quite difficult and I'd probably end up in Starbucks like you!

  23. I'm hoping to go to Prague at some point this year! Too bad about the food: I'm not veggie, but I don't eat that much meat, but I might have to give in a few times while I'm there just to get a taste for the culture!
