A Late Valentine [REVIEW - Afternoon Tea - Soho Hotel]

As a single lady, I wasn't expecting to do anything for V-day this year. As it turns out, good things happen when you least expecting it and I ended up having a pretty good couple of days. On Sunday a friend and I treated ourselves to a girlie afternoon tea at The Soho Hotel. This is what I wore:

Please excuse the overly posey photos. I took some normal ones too but couldn't resist using these!

Top: New Look
Skirt: Rokit Vintage
Belt: M&S
Tights: TK Maxx
Shoes: Topshop

Afternoon tea was really lovely. We went for the fruit tea which was delicious and really healthy - I had a pot of jasmine flower green tea and we shared this gorgeous platter:

The Soho Hotel has such a relaxed vibe, we sat chatting for about four hours and didn't feel rushed to leave. We had our tea in a boudoir style room with comfy chairs arranged around a giant coffee table. I couldn't help but have a peek at the regular afternoon tea - the cakes looked very yummy so I'm definitely planning a retuen visit for when I'm feeling less virtuous.

On Valentine's Day itself, I went to see Bright Eyes at the Scala. I don't think I've ever talked music on my blog before (I guess all efforts to be a "beauty blog" go out the window right here)but I am a BIG Conor Oberst/Bright Eyes fan. I was super excited when I received my pre-order of their new album complete with a cute hand written thank-you note:

While I'm revealing more about my "real life", you may also notice that my "real name" is Lillian. No one ever calls me that IRL though.

My gig look involved red lipstick and red rose earrings (a small concession to Valentine's day):

The show was amazing. I felt so buzzing afterwards that I couldn't get to sleep until 3am and was exhausted at college all the next day but it was so worth it. Whatever music you're into, seeing your favourite band do a 2 hour set is pretty special. I was very lucky that I managed to get a standing spot on higher raised level. I would have loved to be right at the front but at 5'1 there's always the risk that someone taller than 5'1 stands in front of you and you spend the whole evening staring at the back of their head.

Hope you all had lovely Valentine's days, whether you're single or loved up. I'm usually massively cynical about the day and scorn every heart-shaped object I see in the shops but this year, I realised it's true that V-day is like life: it's what you make it.
